Snake men, or The Third Spawning

(this document is a work in progress)

There are many different tales telling the migration of Clan Pestilence from Lustria to the Old World. If you can find and believe the Skaven tombs and tales, you would believe that Clan Pestilence made their epic journey across the sea per some divine right to avenge their banishment so many years ago and to fulfill their destiny by taking their rightful place as the strongest and ruling Clan of all Skaven.

If, on the other hand, you read some of scientific research regarding Lustria, and researched the tablets, scrolls and tales from this far continent, you would hear a very different tale. One of an ancient battle of the rat-like Skaven verses and ancient Lizard people. Where the Skaven were pushed off the continent, driven as vermin, and forced into the ocean by waves of deadly serpents at the control of the Slaan Mages and their lizard man armies.

I think it is more than coincidence that Skaven fear snakes as much as they do.

The Third Spawning

Snake men are part of the Third Spawning. The First Spawning refers to the Slaan; the first to be created by the ancient ones. The First Spawning includes several distinct spawning periods for the different generations of Slaan. A Slaan has not been spawned in thousands of years. (Reptile Man Source Books). The Second Spawning refers to the Skink and Saurusas. Although spawning of Skink and Saurousas is rare these days. and much slower than in the past, it still occurs regularly in Lustria but is much rarer in other locations. Third Spawnings, as far as can be determined, have occurred once, and perhaps there is a second occurring right now on the southern continent. Snake men are the third spawning: brought fourth specifically to eradicate Skaven.

Snake man are 10 – 15 ft long, part vipers with arms that can reach up to 2/3rd’s their length. They have fanged teeth, flexible bodies, and viper pits. There is also a water variant that has a flattened tail, smaller teeth, and supposedly captured in the coldest of northern waters. They were brought forth to slide effortless through the Skaven tunnels and eradicate the Chaos spawned filth.

Snake men do not seem to have the longevity of their brethren. They come in a amazing number of colors and skin patterns. There is a water and a subterranean version. Although both version can traverse water or land. Snake men use large and medium sized monitor lizards for hunting and guarding. The leader cast have a cobra appearance and can spit venom. They are well suited for going through tunnels, and water.
